-------------------
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------

SecureZIP Server is intended for use on the following operating systems:

   - AIX 5L Version 5.3 (5300-08) or higher
   - AIX 6L Version 6.1 (6100-00) or higher
   - AIX 7L Version 7.1 (7100-00) or higher

NOTE: The number in parentheses lists the minimum version/technology
level reported by "oslevel -r" that is required. Please note that the
given technology level may no longer be available from IBM, and you
may need to update to a more recent technology level.

The xlC packages listed below are required:

           xlC.aixXX.rte 12.1.0.1 or later
           xlC.rte 12.1.0.1 or later

The xlC packages can be obtained from the IBM Web site. The
appropriate document is "IBM August 2012 PTF for XL C/C++ for AIX, V12.1"

To obtain the appropriate package, you can also locate the APAR (see
list below), and choose to download the fix from the "Fixes are
       available" section.

           APAR IV26379 for xlC runtime

   - HP-UX (Itanium-only) 11iv2 or higher with patches PHSS_39821, PHSS_39897
     and PHSS_40537, and PHSS_41184
   - HP-UX (Itanium-only) 11iv3 or higher with patches PHCO_41039, PHSS_39822
     and PHSS_40538, PHSS_41183, and PHSS_41185.

If these patches are installed after PKZIP, run the following
       commands:

           fastbind /opt/pkware/pkzip/bin/pkzipc
           fastbind /opt/pkware/pkzip/bin/pkcerttool

For all HP-UX versions, we recommend installing any patches that are
specific to your locale and OS version.

   - Red Hat Enterprise Linux v4 - v6 (x86, x86_64, s390, or s390x
     processors)
   - SUSE Linux Enterprise Server v9 - v11 (x86, x86_64, s390, or s390x
     processors
   - Ubuntu 10.04 (LTS) (x86 or x86_64 processors)

   - Solaris 8 or higher (UltraSPARC processors)
   - Solaris 10 or higher (x86 processors)

Minimum System Requirements: 64 MB RAM

------------
INSTALLATION
------------

Use the command lines given below to install PKZIP Server on the respective
operating systems. Replace "<downloaded file>" with the name of the
installation file and a full path. The file must reside on the local file
system.

For Solaris, the installer asks some additional questions. Specify the
defaults of 'all' and 'y'.

    AIX:
        installp -a -d<downloaded file> all

    HP-UX:

        swinstall -s <downloaded file> PKZIPServer

    Linux:
        Red Hat / SUSE:
        rpm -i <downloaded file>

        Ubuntu:
        dpkg -i <downloaded file>

    Solaris:

        pkgadd -d <downloaded file>

DISTRIBUTION NOTES
------------------

The files that comprise PKZIP Server are not for distribution. Consult the
end-user license agreement that came with your copy of this program for
information on the terms and conditions of use.

If you run the trial version of PKZIP Server, you will need to purchase a
license to continue using the software when the trial period expires.

-------------
LICENSE NOTES
-------------

ENTERING LICENSE KEYS

You must run pkzipc executable as root to enter licenses (with the
ENTERLICENSEKEY command). PKZIP no longer uses license keys in a user's home
directory. The program reads license keys only from the copy of the
license.ini file in the same directory as the pkzipc binary.

NOTES AND KNOWN ISSUES
----------------------

- In response to NIST Special Publication 800-131A from the National
Institute of Standards and Technology, the SHA-1 hashing algorithm is not
  supported in FIPS 140 mode.

- In response to NIST Special Publication 800-131A from the National
Institute of Standards and Technology, the 3DES-112 (also known as "two
key" 3DES) algorithm is not supported in FIPS 140 mode.

- The -lowercase option used in extracting files from archives now has two
  sub-options.
archive (default) - Indicates only the path information stored in the
                        archive will be made lowercase.
full - Indicates all of the extract path will be made lowercase,
including the extract to path specified on the command line.

Check any existing scripts you have to confirm the behavior you want.

- If upgrading from a previous version of PKZIP Server, please note that
you should run the PKCertTool utility with the -upgrade command before
attempting to use certificates. A convenience script,
PKCertTool-upgrade.sh is provided for those who use ACLs with their
databases, to preserve the existing ACL during the upgrade process. The
script contains a few directions for modifying it for proper use.

- v14 Server should not be installed with a v12 (or older) SecureZIP Partner
Server. PKCertTool uses a different format for the certificate database.

- SecureZIP supplies a utility program PKCertTool to set up stores for
digital certificates on UNIX. See the section "Setting Up Stores for
Digital Certificates on UNIX/Linux" in Chapter 6 of the Users Manual.
